Maximal Concepts is one of Hong Kong’s leading F&B groups, owning and operating popular brands such as Mott32, Limewood, and more. As part of an annual partnership that utilises our digital media channels at various promotional periods, Maximal Concepts was also interested in being a partner in Time Out’s highly engaging, offline activations.
The idea
Time Out Hong Kong in partnership with Maximal Concepts present Hong Kong’s first ever Time Out Dining Series: Chef Showdown, which saw four of the city’s reputable chefs go head-to-head, while testing their culinary chops on the toughest critics out there – our readers! Chef Showdown is a live opportunity to position a brand in front of a culturally rich, affluent and engaged audience, which Time Out works tirelessly to foster.
The execution
Chef Showdown took place over two nights at Maximal Concepts venue, Blue, with each night seeing two pairs of chefs battling it out against each other. Participating chefs included Sebastian Comerso representing the home team versus Esther Sham of Maison Es, and Max Levy of Okra versus Anthony Burd of Mercato By Jean-Georges. At both sold-out dinners, guests sat down to an exclusive five course menu paired with cocktails.
On the other end of a showdown is a winner. We trust our readers tastes as much as they trust ours. Our diners and readers were essential in deciding who the winning chefs were as they casted their votes during Chef Showdown.
Our event partner’s branding was highlighted across an extensive pre- and post-event media campaign as well as on the actual night. The 6-week programme of exclusive event coverage, included custom written and video content.
